Hi Tom, Yes, I get that *** blanking on the edit/browser screen, too.
However, in this case, I am only looking at the data to ensure that what is entered has been done so correctly. Generally speaking, one screenful of data is all I need to see and it aggravates me to have to click on the little square each time. Once I'm sure that my command files are doing what I want them to do and RBW doesn't have _better_ ideas....<g> Regards, Alastair. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Grimshaw" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, April 04, 2002 6:25 AM Subject: Re: Maximising the display of edit/browse commands > G'day Alastair, > > I would caution against using the browser to display data. > I do it occasionally and have noticed several times that it > has displayed incorrect data, duplicate rows that did not > exist, when changing size it will blank all values so that > it has to be closed and opened again, the addition of a new > row and entry of data will be misdisplayed when you move the > cursor from one row to the next etc. > > It is more work to create a form with a region but aside > from the cursor being moved in a random fashion when getting > to the bottom of the result set the behaviour is better > mannered. > > > At 09:40 03/04/02 +0100, you wrote: > >Hello everyone, > > > >If I write a command file that has something like the following in it: > > > > edit * from table1 > > edit * from table3 > > edit * from table5 > > > >I get the data displayed in varying size windows within R:Base. > > > >If I change the file to: > > > > maximize > > edit * from table1 > > maximize > > edit * from table3 > > maximize > > edit * from table5 > > > >I get the data displayed full size in the R:Base screen - which is what I > >want - BUT there is a second or two of rapid flickering across the screen > >between each edit command - which I really don't want. > > > >I know that I can specify the width of each column but that presupposes that > >I know which columns are wanted and that new ones are not added. > > > >The "manual" says that maximize/minimize apply to the R:> window rather than > >edit/browse windows. > > > >Does anybody know a better way of obtaining a full screen display of > >individual windows within R:Base? > > > >Thanks in advance, > >Regards, Alastair. > > > >---------------------------------- > >A D B Burr, > >St. Albans, UK. > >---------------------------------- > >[EMAIL PROTECTED] > >---------------------------------- > > > >================================================ > >TO SEE MESSAGE POSTING GUIDELINES: > >Send a plain text email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > >In the message body, put just two words: INTRO rbase-l > >================================================ > >TO UNSUBSCRIBE: send a plain text email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > >In the message body, put just two words: UNSUBSCRIBE rbase-l > >================================================ > >TO SEARCH ARCHIVES: > >http://www.mail-archive.com/rbase-l%40sonetmail.com/ > > Warmest regards, > > > Tom Grimshaw > coy: Just For You Software > tel: 612 9552 3311 > fax: 612 9566 2164 > mobile: 0414 675 903 > > post: PO Box 470 Glebe NSW 2037 Australia > street: 3/66 Wentworth Park Rd Glebe NSW 2037 > > email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > web: www.just4usoftware.com.au > > This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential to the > intended recipient and may be privileged.
