Folks,
I know you all have been very patient waiting for an official
announcement for Next Generation R:BASE 7.0 for Windows
Beta Program discussed at the 4th Annual R:BASE Developers'
Conference.
FYI, the Radisson Hotel has cleaned up the "Show Room" and
has everyone's socks in a big box collected right after the midnight
session. They are arranging a pick up to take those socks off site.
Our Dream Team has compiled a list of all additional requests,
including Running EEPs in DBGrid, Running Stored Procedures
and Triggers in Forms and Sub-Reports in Reports, etc.
Keeping those requests in mind for The Magical R:BASE 7.0 for
Windows, upcoming In-Line Patch-3 for The Glorious R:BASE
2000 (ver 6.5++) and Inline Patch-1 for Oterro 2000 (ver 2.5), here
is the schedule for our Dream Team:
01. Release In-Line Patch-3 for R:BASE 2000 (ver 6.5++) , Build:
1.852xRT03, including:
. You can set a flag to disable "index only" select retrievals.
The command is "SET INDEXONLY OFF".
The default setting is ON.
. To clean out bogus rows from SYS_PASSWORDS use the
following new command:
PACK PASSWORD
. You can now do CROSSTAB commands on NOTE fields.
It will only use the first 20 characters, but this permits
text expressions from views to be used.
. Permission is checked before you can get into Forms,
Reports, or Labels definition. Permission is checked
on SYS_PROCEDURES before a PUT command can be run.
. R:BASE 2000 (ver 6.5++), Build:1.852xRT03 and higher
will include support for BEFORE and AFTER Triggers.
The current triggers are all "before" triggers in that they run
just before the actual INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE and
give you the ability to abort the action. The new triggers are
"after" triggers in that they run just after the action. Since
the modified data has been "committed" you cannot abort
the action in an AFTER Trigger.

02. Release In-Line Patch-1 for Oterro 2000 (ver 2.5)
03. A special "Training the Beta Testers" program will be announced
soon to train ALL potential beta testers, R:BASE Developers,
Database Administrators and NEW Users who will be involved in
first-hand experience of testing and developing their applications
using the Next Generation R:BASE 7.0 for Windows.
This will be a three-day hands-on training session.
04. There will be NO public beta of R:BASE 7.0 for Windows.
