If you break the notes out into another table, the occasional broken pointer 
will probably go away or at least move to the note table.  If you don't edit 
notes, the borken pointers will most likely completly go away.  I have found 
editing notes has a much higher probability of causing problems.  If your 
note table has over 100,000 rows, I wouldn't allow editing of the notes, but 
just re-insert the note and flag the old one to get deleted and then delete 
all of the flagged notes in batch at night.
