Alastair,

I have a routine which does something similar...

The user chooses one or more equipment numbers from a pop-up list and
"eqnbr" looks like: Number1,Number2,Number3,etc.

The code is:

  CHOOSE eqnbr FROM #VALUES FOR (LJS(eq_nbr + ",",11) & eq_des), eq_nbr FROM +
equip WHERE (eq_des CONTAINS .veqdes OR eq_nbr CONTAINS .veqdes) AND +
eq_nbr IN (SELECT eq_nbr FROM xref) ORDER BY +
eq_nbr AT 1 CEN CHKBOX CAPTION "Choose Equipment Number(s)" LINE 20 FORM

Then, I have:

   SET V xeqnbr =("EQ_NBR IN" & "(" + .eqnbr + ")")
PRINT xref WHERE eq_nbr IN (SELECT eq_nbr FROM xref WHERE &xeqnbr) +
   ORDER BY eq_nbr pr_nbr

It works well.
