Thank you all for your replies. What I was hoping to find is whether you can easily access the RS232 or USB input from Rbase. I am somewhat familiar with the keyboard wedge decoders, but am under the understanding that you could use only (1) per PC. I need to have one PC read (4) barcode inputs. I.E. the application would continually poll the (4) input ports and when input is found process it.
With a keyboard wedge, this would be fairly simple I believe as indicated below it simply "acts" as keyboard input. However I would not be able to poll (4) swipe readers and I do not want to have to purchase (4) PC's. Since USB or RS232 swipe readers are available, this approach could let me use more readers on one PC. However I do not know how to access the USB or RS232 ports through Rbase. Any ideas? Thank you all again in advance. -Bob -----Original Message----- From: Emmitt Dove [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, August 22, 2002 7:04 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Barcode swipe readers Bob, My best advice is to go with the keyboard wedge approach. It will be trouble-free in conjunction with R:Base. As Lynn indicated, you can accept the barcode input into a field on a form, a FILLIN, a DIALOG, etc. Painless.
