Steve,
I just converted a Foxpro (dos) database to R:Base 6.5++ win.
FoxPro database is a bunch of dbf files and can be attached directly.

I created a DUMMY database, attached all the files,
when I came across reserved words or columns from different tables with the
same names but diff data types or lengths, I merely added an X to the end of
the col name so R:Base would accept them.
Then project each table into into rbase tables.
Then for safety, in case I screw up some data while testing, I unloaded all
the tables as ascii. Then, if necessary, I could delete any screwed up
tables and merely load them back from the ascii file. Then you can detach
the dbf tables.
If you are trying to match their forms, here is something to watch out for.
Some of their forms are wider than a screen and I didn't initially see the
whole form, so when I presented it to the customer they said I left out half
the form, then they showed me that if you use the right arrow you will see
the rest of the form.

If you need any other help you can email me privately.

good luck,

No, just attach the .dbf files.
