When you define the auto-number column using the NONUM option, it does not
renumber the existing rows, only the rows that are inserted after the column
has been redefined. During loading NONUM turns the auto numbering off which
is what you would do if you are reloading a table from a backup and want to
maintain the existing numbers, if you use NUM, it will auto number the rows
as they are loaded. If you are using the NONUM option when entering a new
row, it will not generate an auto number, you need to use the NUM option (or
no option as NUM is the default) if you want to auto number new rows as they
are entered.
Are you loading one row at a time or a you reloading from a backup?
If you want to verify that your auto number column is properly defined:
- go to the SYS_COLUMNS table and look up you column and find out its
SYS_COLUMN_ID
- go to the SYS_DEFAULTS table and verify that the columns SYS_NEXT and
SYS_INCREMENTS (that match the SYS_COLUMN_ID that you got in the previous
step) matches you definition.
I hope this helps.

Subject: Autonum not working in win 6.5++ Windows 2000

I have a table that I have autonumed like: autonum orignum in match2 using

When I use the load comand to load rows into the table the orignum column
