Claudine, your TALLY command will give you the total count of items, ignoring the first item in the table. WHERE COUNT refers to the row being looked at. You can select WHERE COUNT = 279, for example. If you try your tally command without the where count > 1, you will find that one of the "buckets" in the TALLY has one more item than the first time you ran it.
The way I read the question, the user wanted only to see those items that were duplicates in a list of mainly unique values. The SELECT ... GROUP BY ... HAVING COUNT(*) > 1 is the one that works.
