Bill,

It is a satisfying feeling to see that when people work together
in a very professional and productive manner, there is very little
that cannot be achieved.

I'd also like to take a moment to say that you are not alone in
your experiences with the RBTI Support Staff and the Dream Team.
We treat all feedback as important, and work hard to resolve any
issue that can be reliably replicated.

As I'm sure you can attest, it took a great deal of effort on your
part to narrow down the problem before sending it to Mike, and from
there, it was scrutinized even further before being submitted to
the BIG MAN. But, you see how great the results are. All of your
efforts are NEVER in vain.

It is important that we convey this message to the R:BASE Community
so that we can avoid the frustrations that some people experience
when they submit problems to us without properly documenting or
narrowing them down. Our goal is to let everyone play a vital role
in the process so that no one person bears the responsibility of
taking valuable time to do the work of the person before.

Once again, you and the entire R:BASE Community can continue to expect
the same service from us as you have seen in this great example.

Enjoy the latest and greatest in-line patch-3, Build:1.859xRT03.

Very Best Regards,

Razzak.

I develop applications for my company which is in the real estate appraisal
business. We specialize in commercial and residential real estate. We also
have been participating in the revaluation of Nassau County (Long Island,
New York) which encompasses over 435,000 parcels of property.

I have been using Rbase as a development tool for over 15 years and have had
numerous occasions to use tech support.

Recently while doing a program update for our commercial division I came
across a problem in the beta release (ver 6.5++ Windows (32-bit), U.S.
Version, Build:1.859xRT03 Private Beta (Release Candidate 2)) which gave me
some concern. A very important aspect in appraising commercial real estate
is searching for and finding comparable sale properties. Our database
contains thousands of these comparables that our appraisal staff depends
upon on a daily basis.

As Razzak has taught us, "If you can dream it, you can do it !" Well my
dream was to incorporate jpeg photos into my multi-level comparable search
program. The results of the search are displayed in a region as rows of each
parcel data along with it's picture. Very nice indeed ! It helps our staff
tremendously in making decisions.

For some unknown reasons, the form would bomb out to the desktop when a
search was completed. The region in the form displays three rows of data at
a time along with the photo. If I took the photo out of the form everything
worked well, but that was not my dream. With Mike Wilochell's aid, I was
able to pinpoint the bug. Whenever the search for data found one less row of
data than the three rows displayed in the region, the form bombed. One row
found - OK, three rows found - OK, two rows found - bombs away ! Whenever
there was one row less of data found than there was rows in the region it
triggered the error.

I'm sure that all of you have experienced the frustration resulting from app
development when you program something that you JUST KNOW will work but for
some reason(s) just doesn't. You seem to go round in circles double checking
everything. Suddenly your co-workers start to appear as co-conspirators,
your wife's cooking is not as good as usual, the train is late again, you
kick your dog and then you wonder where the ~!@#$% is Rbase when you really
need them ?

Well, Rbase was there for me. As soon as I delivered a sample database and
code to Mike, he and Razzak and Wayne worked on the bug and delivered the
fix to me within a very short period of time.

I am not very much of a cheerleader, I pretty much prefer to stand in the
background. I just wanted to let everyone know how I feel about those guys
and all the hard work they put in to make MY dreams come true !

Thank you Mike
Thank you Razzak
Thank you Wayne
