As a greek user, I should have been using currency convention A for
currency: Thousands delimiter: (.)-period, decimal delimiter: (,)-comma.

I've constantly refrained from this choice for two reasons:

1. I had to use another char delimit, for example: (!)
Imagine writing programs with (!) instead of (,). You are just alone. If a
problem occurs that has to do with delimit char, who is going to think about
it? One Greek and a few Germans...
2. ODBC and Ottero. If I'm right they need standard delimit char to work ok.
You can always change delimit char temporarily, but in a multi user
environment this could lead to a mess.

So, if I'm right currency convention should be independent of delimiter
char. Don't ask me how...
