Thank you, Razzak, I think - and hope - that's pretty much what I wanted to hear.
At this stage there is, quite obviously, no point in doing anything major to the current version with v7 in the pipeline and the in-line patch that's already due for v6.5++. It's quite obvious from the posted comments of those that have seen the product that you've made a major leap forward but for those of us who have not yet seen v7 it might save some time and trouble if we knew a little more about the detail of the improvements. Not everyone on this list will want to get involved in the beta program even if you were to open it out a little more before the final release is due. Equally, there will be some who would probably like to check their own "little pet niggle" but not get totally involved in a major test programme. Either way there's no point in anyone going on about things you've already corrected in v7. How about a suggestion: I know that it would take even more effort and make more work for RBTI but would it be worth making - for want of a better description - a "non-working or demo-only" beta available that allows people access to all the features with a demo database thus giving "semi-interested" users a chance to comment before everything gets set in stone? I know from past experience that major new versions of software often cause users headaches because some super new feature that is really brilliant but not going to be used regularly has been introduced in preference to more minor changes which the users longed for. More often than not the users said nothing until they'd got the new version when the cry went up: "why didn't they put 'that' right instead of adding useless bells and whistles?" Don't ask me why they couldn't have said something before. There must be a wealth of useful views waiting out here with people wanting to help you get the best possible product - for their own selfish reasons if nothing else. If the feedback you get is positive then all well and good but if there's a problem area you should get to know about it before it's too late. I'm sure I've said before that it's often the less closely involved people who spot a problem that experienced testers miss because they know what it's meant to do.
