Thanks everyone for your responses to my dilemma.  As usual, there is more
than one way to accomplish the task.  Isn't R:BASE wonderful?  My
application is working fine now and I have one more useful tool in my tool
box. Y'all are the best!

While we are on the subject, I have one more question.  If the CHOOSE
variable is text, I get T1,T2,T3.  If the CHOOSE variable is an integer, I
get    331,   332,   333.  It looks like three spaces before each value.  It
doesn't affect how it functions, but it is curious.  Is it something I'm
doing or is that just the way it is?
