        For the average in house developer who has no access to the company
server your solution is not tenable although it will work.  On Novell there
is a method for going in and simply releasing the locks.  The problem is
that you have to go into the server to do it and most companies don't want
anyone fooling around with their server.

        Under Win 1.850 we had phantom users who had no locks set.  We never
did figure out what was causing the problem but it required a reload to get
rid of them.  It simply went away when 1.851 was installed.  Now all phantom
users vanish when a user connects in single user mode.
