I already have a view that has all of the information in it. The problem is how to get the crosstab to handle everything, or alternatively to get the same effect in a different way? If I'm not clear, let me know and I'll send a sample.

Certainly the crosstab control in 7.x would do this. The key would be to
get the EXTRA columns into a view with the other categories at report
printing time so that a crosstab could performed, but it would be tricky
because crosstab assumes TWO COLUMNS' values being crosstabulated, and it
sounds like you've got two columns AND other things you want displayed.
You'd have to set up a temp table with extra rows containing, under a bogus
column that also has the cross tabulation column, the data you want
displayed.

Alternatively, you can create a dynamic cross data set, then load this into
a temp table constructiing a SINGLE COLUMN of data holding the crosstabbed
results, then place that on a simple detail line.

If you're going to be at the conference, it would be fun to sit down with
you and work on this!

Subject: [RBG7-L] - Possible to make this report?

I'm trying to something that may be a bit off the wall, but I figure
that it can't hurt to ask on the list. Maybe someone will have some good
ideas for me.

What I'm trying to do might almost be described as looking like a
crosstab, with some additional data for each row of the cross tab.

Each row in a table has a date, one column that is yes/no, one numeric
column and one column that places the row into one of several
categories. What i need is a report that gives me on row for each date,
showing the number of rows, the number of yes rows, a sum of the numeric
column and the number of each of the categories for each date. I have a
report in 6.5 that does this quite nicely, and I could probably upgrade
or recreate it without too much trouble. But, I'd like to know if I can
add one more feature.

Currently, the list of categories that the report handles is completely
static. I have 5 categories, and although the system can handle as many
categories as I need, the report won't show them. I know that I'm going
to have more categories down the line, and I'd like to be able to handle
them, without having to redo the report. That means that the list of
categories the report handles has to be dynamic. I could probably work
around this by having the list of categories work downward instead of
across, but it's visually unappealing, it's harder to read, when looking
at the totals, and my boss will probably hit the roof.

Is there any way that anyone can think of to get the categories across
the top (as the current report does) but in a somewhat dynamic fashion?
