$COMMAND
ThisIsNowMyFirstBlock

$COMMAND
ThisIsNotAnyDifferent

Those two blocks are not distinguished in codelocked code,
because the first 8 characters are the same.

Upon further testing for the official release of upcoming update 78, the block $COMMAND names in CodeLock files are currently limited to 8 characters in length. Each APX file has a directory at the front of the file set up with these 8 characters. If we increase the name length, then our APX files will no longer be compatible with current versions of R:BASE.

Along with huge file size, longer names and more, increasing
the limit of $COMMAND would be ideal for 8.0 without breaking
existing code in 7.1/7.5. We are planning to come up with a
different extension than APX to indicate the change in the
directory headers. To implement such enhancement in 7.x would
really require a different name too.

As mentioned previously, effective with the official release
of Update 78 for R:BASE 7.1 for Windows to be released soon,
as well as 7.5 (private beta), Labels used for GOTO commands
now must be unique in the first 30 characters instead of just
the first 8. This will allow for longer labels.

Very Best R:egards,

Razzak.
