Actually there have been several times during the 'waiting for a Riv  
custom odyssey' when I considered
an AHH. A Homer would be functionally equivalent but would lack the  
nifty custom head badge, the
JB paint, and the other custom details.  When I became impatient and  
asked about changing my custom to an AHH the Riv folks
were accommodating and open to that idea. In the end, patience  
prevailed and I'm happy that the custom won out.

For me the new bike decision isn't a practical decision it is more a  
matter of 'bike madness'.
While Grant doesn't mention 'bike madness' his description of  
Rivendell Customs covers much of why I'm getting a custom.
