I run my Quickbeam as a 40 x 16. It works well for me. Sometimes I would like a little larger gear but I usually change my mind after a large hill. I found the stock 40 x 18 a little too low for my taste. I have run a 40 x 18 on a different bike in the winter with studs and that works fine.
