Joel/Jeremy

I can appreciate where you're coming from. I guess I just don't see
anything offensive about what the author wrote, especially given the
intended audience. It's easy to pick nits when you're super
knowledgeable about bicycles (as I'm sure you both are!) and use them
- rely on them - for more than racing (as I'm sure you both do!).

I had a racerboy co-worker tell me that I ruined a perfectly good
vintage racer (a 531 t.i. team raleigh) by doing a 650b conversion,
fitting 35mm tires, mounting fenders, etc. I told him that I'll ride
this bicycle more in the next year than it's probably been ridden in
the last 30 some years combined. and that I'll still kick your a$$ on
a club ride if you want me too. and that I'll go ride single-track
after i'm done kicking your a$$. and that I'll throw a big dinner in
my saddlebag on my way home because I'm going to be tired from kicking
your a$$ and riding single track all afternoon.

point is, if one can't see the utility in a bicycle beyond racing,
it's his/her problem. different strokes. takes all kinds.
whatever. life's too short to fuss over such things.

anyway, just to play devil's advocate, does anyone feel that BQ
panders a bit, or is a tad biased, or is dismissive of certain
bicycles and bicycle equipment?
