What performance trait are you hoping to experience with the MaxiCars? I'd use them just because I could! The hoops are where the performance feel comes from. ----- Original Message ----- From: JoelMatthews To: RBW Owners Bunch Sent: Thursday, January 01, 2009 7:43 PM Subject: [RBW] Re: What a difference great wheels make
Wheels and bike very handsome indeed. Velocity is a great rim. Hope used to make a great looking chrome skewer. City induced paranoia has me using Pit Locks on all my bikes now. Your report has me thinking. I lucked into a great new old stock set of Maxi-Car hubs earlier this year. I have been going back forth on whether to keep them in my trophy case as a collectible, or should I build some wheels around them and find out if they are as great as their reputation suggests. They roll so much smoother than the original equipment units! My riding buddies all tell me that they look great, but I'm still getting used to them. Black anodized rims on a Ram? I've ordered black anodized skewers, but the fashion advisory board here tells to stick with the old school chrome and looped nuts. The bike came new in Jan of '07, so it's 2 years old, and still looking great. Rides that way too, after 4,000+ miles. There's a clickable picture in today's entry at my blog, for those who care.
