In an emergency situation (police car pulled out in front of me) last
summer on my former cobbled-together time-trial bike, I easily skidded
both tires and nearly crashed using the Tektro 556 calipers and the
stock pads on old tubular rims with an anodized brake surface. I've
seen several references to these Tektro brakes being sub-par, but that
hasn't been my experience. I like (and sell) BQ, but these tests are
starting to drive me nuts. One day: "these are great tires/brakes/
whatever" and then the test is published, and: "I knew there was
something wrong with those tires/brakes/whatever!"
