Just a note that not all cartridge BB's are the same in terms of the
stated need for grease during installation. According to the
installation instructions, Phil BB retaining rings and the bottom
bracket shell should not get greased. Phil supplies a threadlock
liquid (Loctite blue?) with instructions to use that on the retaining
rings - not grease. I was initially uncomfortable with this and I had
to suspend my disbelief while following the instructions.

My experience thus far with my two Phil equipped bikes (two years,
heavy loads, and lots of miles) has shown that this non-greased
fitting works noiselessly. That said, and Phil's instructions
notwithstanding, I'm open to what others have experienced. Any noisy
Phil BB's that were remedied by greasing the threads? Any problems
experienced due to greasing?
