Another data point - my Surly LHT has 559x50 Kojak tires. They are smooth, but nowhere near as nice as the Compass Barlow Pass tires. In the past week put about 150 miltes total on the Kojak tires and by the end of the week, I was feeling the miles in my legs. In fact, am now considering buying the Compass 26" tires for this bike.
