We have the benefit of mountain streams/rivers here for keeping that all important beer cold.
As far as camping...in the Reno area my friends and I have remarked on the irony that we pack almost as much for a s24o ride as we would for a full on multi day tour. The difference might be in food needed but many tours don't need a lot of food packed depending on where you're going.
