I'd say buy the bike and ride it. Don't even worry about hoarding
beyond maybe 1-2 extra sets of tires and half a dozen tubes when they
are found at a good price. Worst case future scenario - convert the
bike to 26x1-3/8 (590), which, worldwide, is probably more common than
700c.
