Thanks all. I like to pull the socks over my knees and cinch them there with the pants' cuffs. Otherwise the breeze bothers me. I've looked at S Trader but didn't find anything to suit; but thanks for the reference.
Deacon: the idea of leg warmers is a good one -- but not old sweater sleeves, I'm afraid. I may choose leg warmers.
