The bag I got from Boulder cycles has both a plastic stiffener supplied by Berthoud and an aluminum stiffener (a U-shaped aluminum strip the bolts to the back and sides of the bag) supplied by Boulder. I dumped the plastic and am just using the aluminum, which works fine. I sewed myself some pockets using mosquito netting that hang from the aluminum strip, one pocket on the back of the bag and one on each side. Handy for carrying small, frequently-used items that would otherwise disappear in the bottom of the bag.
