Thanks everyone! Bill, that is a fantastic idea. I think those kickstand bolts are M10 though? (I'm not at home to check). Now I just have to work out what an M8/M10 setscrew is in French...
I'm actually pretty impressed with the kickstand. I have 60 mm tyres, a triple crankset and a relatively narrow chainline (107 mm BB). The kickstand is super stable AND fails to interfere with tyres, chain, cranks or RD cable. Yeah, the blind hole is a bummer and I already shortened the bolt significantly, but I don't think a through bolt would work with the way it's designed.
