Downside would be that powdercoating doesn't protect against rust, unless you apply a paint primer first. Does Powder Coating prevent rust?
Powder Coating is durable and very long-lasting depending on its environment and how the items are used. It is not, however, a rust prevention. Pre-treatment and/or primer coating is required for longer coating life.
