HA, you guys (er, at least some sub-set of!) woulda loved it!!! Mikey
S.- I sure hoped I'd have seen you! ;-)

Whether you came from the distant-iBOB-past, or merely have affinity
for the technical / historical / social roots of cycling, you'd have
loved this. Yes, it did have that re-enactment element to it, but
rather than being cheesy it was totally mesmerizing - kind of like
visiting a living history museum or encountering a steam locomotive.

After reading the varying degrees of hand-wringing about prohibition
of clipless pedals, aero levers and/or the replacing vintage road
doubles with "cheater" touring-class gearing, everybody and I mean
everybody who I saw that went out for it had a GREAT time. It was a
synthesis of all the elements- the location, the route, the bikes and
the people that really made it. It was a 3-day party in a festival
environment.

I started late and got later during my day on the middle route. Rode
with several local and distance-friends who frequent this and other
lists, and spotted both a Hilsen AND a Betty Foy (black widow paint!)
out there during the ride.

My photos are pretty middling compared to those of the "pros"- the
most scenic moments I was hardly going to get off the bike for! - but
here you go:

I'd suggest, play your best hand and get in the game next year!
