Patrick:

Yes, it's an old Bendix coaster hub that fellow RBWOB member and friend
John Sharpe is modifying at a hidden location somewhere deep in the hills
of Eastern PA... You may have seen pics of his Quickbeam with this
setup... it's way cool. Interested in hearing YOUR impressions of the
S3X... reviews have been mixed. Having already trashed the planetary
internals of one (Sunrace) Sturmey-Archer 8-speed hub *(pedalling a
converted Klunker Schwinn Excelsior up the trails in Calistoga, CA*), I'm
skeptical whether they're heavy duty enough to handle the stresses imposed
by a fixie rider.

Not to get too far off-topic, I'm a big fan of the SRAM-Spectro hubs...
I've built up a few P5 and S7 wheels, and I've been looking for the
so-called "Cargo P5" hub forever (which supposedly has super-duty
internals)... about as easy to find as Bigfoot...

The old Bendix hubs strike me as the kind of hub that the P5 Cargo was
trying to emulate.... It' is a BEAST... yes it's heavy, but it's heavy
duty.

The riser stem... funny, I grabbed this out of the parts box because I
didn't have a tall gooseneck stem... but so far I kinda like it... maybe
I'll keep it as-is.
