It was the ideal weather for a flat or three (three, covering the range from "bam you're dead" to "I'll just seep air out until you're grinding the wheel wall between the rim and the chipseal, ok?", with an added "oh, that spare tire you're carrying? It's bad, too, and have a nice day!") And the trip back into Portland (in the dark, in the rain, and with the riot act waiting for me at home -- no more brevets for me, I'm afraid) was even better, because that was the point where the rain stopped fooling around and started hurling cats and dogs down from the sky.
