I've been happy for two seasons with 26 x 2.15" Big Bens, sibling tires to the Big Apples with a modest tread pattern. They seem to roll over anything. While I expect I'll be putting the Compass Rat Trap Pass tires on a couple of bikes when they become available, I'll probably leave the Big Bens on the old GT rigid mtb I run them on, which does city bike/dirt bike duty in the Summer, ice bike duty (with studded Nokians) in the Winter. It's good to have at least one bike that feels bomb-proof.
