I've had the same problem with a VO rim. I don't have many flats, and in the last five years and 10,000 or more miles over half have been valve stem on that rim. Do try Schwalbe or other higher quality tubes. It might not be a defective tube, but a rim that needs a higher "octane" tube, so to speak.
