i think the problem is that palm springs is mostly retirement/vacation 
homes, so either the good stuff doesnt come, or it gets liquidated upon 
arrival. undoubtedly, there is amazing stuff in a few garages, but the 
people are older and not craigslist savvy. also, most of the people you see 
out on bikes are also on meth.  that said, some of the best thrift store 
shopping in california is in palm springs... though i cant speak for bike 
stuff. i know a few people who stock their vintage stores with bi-monthly 
trips to palm springs. gypsyland in desert hot springs is super fun for 
records, furniture, clothes, oddities, and even the palm springs angel 
view's have consistently good finds.
