The Cliffhanger seems like a great rim for a Bomba.  They're 5 mm wider
than the Atlas or A23, and not much heavier.

The 2.1 Thunder Burt would be a good tire to try as well.  They're
in-between the Schwalbe knobbies and the Compass tires you referenced, as
far as speed and traction.
