Thanks, Phillip. I currently run VO aluminum fenders, which I probably don'the want to try sawing in half. I'very got a few options (including your Riv-inspired SKS hack) to mull over. For now, I've got the Knard on the rear and a ColdVie up front, which may suffice through this winter. Fender-tire clearance with the Knard isn't as good as I'd hope, but it should be fine for around town.
I'm leaning towards a single Paul Racer to aid clearance in the front in order to get the other Knard under thar fender (like the post title says, even with a Tektro it'seems so darn close). Then eventually springing for the rear to balance the bike out. I've also got an old Schwinn PDG 50 I've been meaning to adapt over as a winter commuter, so that may take investment priority.
