I don't think they're ugly. Just looks like a basic functional 80s silver crankset to me.
The wider BCD is not a issue to me, I'm running a 130/74 Ultegra triple crankset as a 44/28 double currently. I used a BB Bash guard in lieu of sawing or filling teeth off of the old big ring.
