Hey - BIG thanks for posting this.

We usually use a fall century as a little motivation to get out and enjoy
some long rides in the summer, and this comes right on time.

I'm also looking forward to visiting Gravel and Grind to get more info on
the owner's personal favorite unpaved rides in the Frederick area.

Last year we used the Amish Country Bike Ride as our carrot, and frankly, I
found it a bit boring - super flat and mind numbing. I think I may reach a
point - just personally - of diminishing returns with rides over 60-70
miles, whereby the whole enterprise becomes more of a grind than a
pleasure. I have never done any touring, but I've been thinking about
trying a long weekend ride from Bethesda to, say, Harper's Ferry, with a
full tilt "just ride" philosophy - kick back, enjoy the effort when it is
called for, but no "heroic" grasp at bagging a 100 miles in one swoop!

I'll check these sites out now. Thanks again!
Alan in Silver Spring.
