I decided to try out a new woman-owned, and women-centred bike shop a
couple of weeks ago to have my bike serviced. I like supporting women who
love bikes, and after I had a pinch blow-out on my rear tire*, I had a
perfect opportunity.

My ex-husband got the car and the bike rack when we split, so he helps me
when I need to transport my Betty Foy anywhere. As we were taking the bike
off the rear rack, he said "If they don't recognize how awesome your bike
is, or at least comment on the frame maker, you know you can't come back
here, right?" I laughed it off, because of course being a store that was
set up by/for people who love bikes, they'd surely know Rivendell.

Not only did they *not* comment on seeing a Rivendell in the wild, they
misspelled it on the receipt when I went to pick up the bike.

And thus endeth my experiment with feminist solidarity.

* The pinch flat was caused by a jerk of a neighbour who has it in for my
bike. I think they meddled with my rear tire.
