I agree, I try to avoid heavy when possible,  but 80% of additional weight is 
in components. I swapped the heavy post that came on my Clementine for a much 
lighter one and even then chopped about 5" of excess post off!
Lightness is far more important in my mind then BB or even seat height,  but 
sometimes bike set up can make a bike feel heavier than it really is.
Case in point; a cruiser/klunker, where are they heavy? Seat, seat post, 
handlebars, cranks, possibly wheels, but these days most wheels have alloy rims 
& are decently light. First thing you would ditch is the tractor seat, then the 
seat post, then the silly heavy mild steel handlebars! That's probably close to 
5 pounds right there! Cranks and other finery can trim another lb. Or two! If 
you fit a wide mid-rise moto style bar it moves your weight forward into a more 
aggressive,  more efficient position,  which will in turn make it feel livelier 
and less heavy. 
It's a recipe for fun!
