Wow, my post gathered some great advice including that from Peter White, 
I'm honored to say. So, I ordered a Velo Orange Grand Cru from our local 
bike shop today which will be an upgrade, just like you recommended 
Michael. The only good thing about repairs is the chance to upgrade, right? 

Thanks everyone, for your great insights. I will attempt to keep the rubber 
side down and wish the same for you.
