The 10,11,12 cm. etc. refer to the *length of the extension/reach*, the 
horizontal part so yes, the larger the number the longer the 
*extension/reach*.  This is not to be confused with the *length of the 
quill*,  which is the vertical part, usually from the min. insertion mark 
to the top of the stem. This number is often not listed by websites.  

  Both of these number work in unison to determine where the bars will 
actually be.
