Surly has a new tire out called ExtraTerrestrial and it's being compared favorably with the Mondial. It first came out in a 26" x 2.5" version and now a 29" x 2.5" but I've read that a 700c x 40 version is in the works. Supposedly a bombproof tire with surprising performance. You might check out some reviews to see if it's something you might be interested in waiting for.
