James: Thanks for the tip on the 1991 catalog(ue). I just read it, and liked it, on Sheldon Brown's site. Interesting to read Grant's thoughts on frame flex / planing: "The frame is a spring. Like a sprung wooden floor or a diving board, it flexes and repays energy on the rebound."
As for the 1994 catalog: Here's one of my favorite lines, from the RB-2 blurb: ". . . Nobody, not even a really big fool, would make a railroad spike from aluminum or carbon fiber.
