I didn't gather that annoyance at trimming was the problem statement.  What 
I read was that the OP cannot stop the chain from rubbing the front 
derailer.  If the problem statement is "I'm annoyed that I have to trim the 
front derailer every 3 or 4 cogs" then yeah, he needs a wider cage front 
der.
