Oops, I meant my rack will be going on my Salsa Marrakesh.

Clearing the headset should be doable. You can put spacers behind the tab. My
issue was there no way to adjust the caliper brake relative to the rack in the
direction I needed.

I have a Rawlands demi- porteur rack on the way for my Sam with centerpulls.
I was assured by Rawlands that the rack will work with a spacer washer to clear
the headset...we'll see.
They also said the Rawlands is good for 22LBS.

It's interesting that Rawland and Soma both introduce an aluminum, demi porteur
rack around the same time. Since the Salsa minimalist rack went out of
production, it seems this has been missing in the marketplace for a while.
(and the minimalist rack was a long rack, not so much a wide porteur rack)

I'm surprised Soma went with welded struts. Replaceable struts allow longer
struts for reaching lower mounts commonly found on touring and commuting bikes.
My ideal rack design would be adjustable at both mounting points.

I just received the Rawland demi porteur rack, and tried to install it on my
Rosco. I was able to add a spacer to get it to clear the headset, but there is
no way to add a spacer to clear the brake cable housing barrel. The rack will
be going on my salsa mariachi instead.

I think I'd prefer a bolt tab on the strut as opposed to a nice looking weld.
It is a good looking rack, tho, and I'm going to Pedel Revolution to check one
out.

Here's another one to consider: a new mass production variation on the
Cyclefab/Haulin' Colin front rack: the SOMA demi-porteur:
http://www.somafab.com/archives/product/demi-porteur-rack. I have one: it's
aluminium, but nicely made. No light mount, but (in my opinion) there are lots
of ways around that. Claims to support 10kg. Ideal size for a basket.
