Carla asked about what surfaces I've ridden on and how it rides. It's my
daily commute bike. It's essentially aroad bike with 700x35 Bon Jon Pass
tires. There's a short mud trail on my path through the hills, but I
wouldn't call that mountain riding. Now that the rain has appeared to let
up, I'm thinking about running Rock and Roads with no fenders, but it's
great the way it is. It rides like a Rivendell Road bike. Solid, lively,
comfortable, predictable.

John asked about the front rack. It's a mini-porteur rack by the builder
"Haulin Colin"

Jay asked 'why go to all the trouble' of making my own super compact double
instead of buying the Rivendell offering of the shelf. Certainly if you
have more money than free time, or more money than inclination to pull
together a concept, then a turnkey solution like the Rivendell Sugino
offering is way easier. In my case, I ended uip with a crankset that is
lighter, stronger, prettier, has 172.5mm arms, a lower q-factor, and cost
about half the price. Also, as Jeremy pointed out, I love it when a plan
comes together
