Very cool student project, Patrick. They did a great job with that prototype.
My concern with so many of the "Tweel-like" solutions is that I'm not sure where the adjustability is. Although I don't know how well these ( https://www.loopwheels.com/ ) work in distributing the pressures put on tires, I could see more potential for adjustability. Maybe combined with that outer rim of swept, flexible spokes may be an answer. Don't know. One thing about pneumatics, if you need a softer rides it's just an air valve push away.
