Regarding toe overlap (so happy not to have to type "Toe clip overlap" anymore): I get it in spades on my Matthews, thanks to the tall wheels, but it's not a big deal. I even have fenders on it, which makes it works, but one nice thing about Planet Bike plastic fenders is that you can kick them around and they just spring back. They don't rattle, either.
I commuted across town in heavy urban traffic for several years on that '73 Grand Record with TCO/TO and added fenders to that, too. And it was a fixed gear -- no backpedaling. *And* I did little trackish-stands at intersections, too. So once again, no big deal, and at least I would rather have TCO than geometry compromises. My Ram had TCO, come to think of it.
