Ok, now, having grown up in WC and now living in...not WC...let me tell you this. Your first trip to RBW HQ to check out the steel steeds will leave you all excited to go ride your bike(s), add to your bike (s), add to your bike collection, save the world, be a better person, have a lycra bonfire (ok that would be bad), be stoked for GPs gift to the biking universe etc..but your next move should be to ask the gang there to point you toward Shell Ridge or Mt. Diablo or any ol open space du jour and really see why WC is so great. Beyond downtown, where parking meters rule the day and everyone is really tall, the City's forefathers (and mothers) really did a neat thing. That was creating the a regional Open Space. No development is ever allowed on the hills and you can bike your guts out and see/hear birds/eagles and you feel like you're miles away from city stuff. So get to RBW early (or late and ride in the evening!), buy good stuff and then hit the dirt to the open space!
